The operator must also hold third-party liability insurance, have a rescue boat, have first-aid training, and hold a speedboat operator licence if using a speedboat as rescue boat, renting speedboats or towing. Towed rides (ski, ringos, parasail) additionally need a water-ski coach licence or degree plus 2 seasons' experience. Professional small craft undergo an initial inspection after registration and periodic inspections on land and afloat. These are done by the local ship inspection unit (ΤΚΕΠ) or a Coast Guard officer, and the sailing licence is endorsed or renewed after each one.
