Number of statutory lines for each craft in the situation we assume (see each country page). “—” = the country’s equipment rules do not cover that craft. Guidance countries have no statutory list; their lines come from the authority’s own guidance.
Where this comes from
Every line comes from the VesselSOS Kit Finder’s legal research: the equipment rules for recreational craft, read in the official texts of each country, with the section and the quote for every item. The pages use the Kit Finder’s own rule engine, so when the law data is updated, these pages follow.
The lists are worked out for a typical rental craft of each type. Your craft may differ — the Kit Finder takes the exact length, engine and waters.
Hiring craft out can bring separate or extra rules (commercial use, permits, local bylaws). Each country page says what our research found about rentals, with the source, and what it did not cover.

Not covered yet. Albania, Malta: the Kit Finder has not verified these countries’ rules yet, so we don’t publish a page for them.
A summary to help you prepare, not legal advice. The operator and the skipper stay responsible for the equipment and its condition. Rules change — when in doubt, the cited act wins, and local bylaws, permits or your insurer may ask for more.

We're onboarding a small group of rental operators for next season — and building the rest with them.
